As a child, Mike enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting and hiking throughout the Cascade and Coast range mountains. By the time Mike was 20 years old he had already successfully harvested many Roosevelt elk and Blacktail deer. In 1986, after graduating H.S Mike left the lower 48 and headed to Alaska where he worked in the timber industry, started a family and got his first experience guiding hunters. Mike loved the vast wilderness and subsistence lifestyle of Alaska and with the seemingly endless amounts of wildlife, fishing and seafood, he considered this his new home. Mike divorced his first wife in 1996 and in 1997 decided to move on to his next adventure. This is when he took his passion for elk hunting to Montana to begin a full-time career in the outdoors industry. Mike eventually took his guiding career to New Mexico where he spent 14 seasons hunting some of the largest elk in the world. In 2017, with the difficulty obtaining hunting tags for NM, Mike moved his business back to Oregon and Washington so that he could focus on hunts that offered over the counter tags.

Mike’s knowledge of western big game as well as his hunting and calling abilities have earned him spots on many Pro-Staff teams including Cabela’s, Meopta optics, Mystery ranch packs and Rocky Mountain Game calls. In his off months, Mike gives big game hunting seminars and presentations and introduces youths to the outdoors. Passionate, dedicated and successful, Mike is without question an experienced world class professional guide. Mike is father to four girls and one boy, has 9 grandchildren and has been married to his wife Kirstin since 2013.
